Even in this digital age, we all love to get a card in the post. I know I am always thrilled, and I have cards which stay up on the mantelpiece and are only taken down to make room for the next occasion.
I share my love of cards with Sharon Little CEO of the Greeting Card Association (GCA), and so it was really good to have an opportunity to celebrate the GCA at the recent Progressive Greetings Live Show at the Business Design Centre in London. Sharon is a real live wire, and her contribution to supporting businesses in the greetings card industry has been immense. Sharon is one of those CEOs that knows all the members personally and really looks out for their interests.
Member businesses benefit from the services on offer, of which help and advice on all things intellectual property is just one. Over the years, we have helped members put together deals with publishers, along with resolving some pretty tricky greeting card copyright disputes. Despite the need to stop competitors from copying, the greetings card industry is quite good-humoured. How can it not be when their reason for being is to spread so much joy around?
While meeting Sharon, I also got to vote in a competition to find the best tagline for general use across the industry. I chose ‘Love in an Envelope’ because that about sums it up for me.
We look forward to supporting GCA for many years to come.
